DO I NEED AN ANTI-SLIP FORMULA ON MY FLOOR?
Slip/fall accidents are a major problem. The statistics are substantial. After auto accidents, SLIP/FALL ACCIDENTS ARE THE LEADING CAUSE OF INSURANCE LIABILITY PAYMENTS. In addition, slip/fall accidents, paid for by workers' compensation claims, have greatly increased over the last 10 years.
"As a general rule of law, if an owner or possessor of a premises is aware of a dangerous condition, which could foresee ably harm an invitee and if he has been put on notice that there is a means to prevent such harm, then it could be inferred that should an accident result in an invitee being harmed, the possessor, owner of the property, would be charged with having the knowledge to correct the defective or accident-causing condition. As a result, the owner may be held to a higher standard of care and his probabilities of being held liable, and for damage against him are likely to be greater."
This partial description of negligence is an excerpt from a letter from our corporate attorneys explaining in simple language, if the owner or processor of a building has a dangerous situation (i.e., a floor that is slippery when wet) and is aware that there is a product available at a reasonable cost that can deter that accident-causing condition and he fails to use it, he has a greater chance of being held liable.
How does Grip On work?
Grip On Anti-Slip Solution reduces the risk and dangers of slip/falls and the resultant potential of personal injury, lawsuits, and litigation costs, employee days lost and increased insurance cost. The increased coefficient of friction gained when surfaces are treated (not coated) with Grip On Anti-Slip Solution is a positive proven safety solution for owners of residential and commercial properties and facilities. When surfaces become wet or moist, those surfaces are automatically skid and slip resistant, when treated with Grip On Anti-Slip Solution.
Grip On Anti-Slip Solution can be used on almost all hard surfaces, such as ceramic tile, glazed brick, marble, polished stone, terrazzo, river rock, concrete, and quarry tile.
How does Grip On work?
A static anti-slip coefficient of friction of .50 or above is considered a safe walkway surface with a dry condition. A reading below .50 is considered an unsafe walkway surface. (Source: Slip and Fall Handbook, by SI Rosen, Hanrow Press)
The CEF is dramatically reduced when an untreated flat tile surface is subjected to water or other wetting agents. The CEF of a Grip OnTM Anti-Slip Solution treated surface complies with the above industry standards. LEGAL DEFINITIONS OF NEGLIGENCE - Failure to use a reasonable amount of care when such failure results in injury or damage to another.

What is Static Coefficient of Friction (SCOF)? It is the measurement that represents the resistance to slippage from the sole of the shoe and contact with the floor surface. The higher the values, the more resistance to slippage.
Will the Anti Slip Treatment damage the surface? The anti-slip treatment process effects are so small that it can't be seen by the naked eye. The changes in the surface composition is at approximately 3,000 microns. For example, 1 micron is equal to 1/247,000 of an inch. Nevertheless, all installations will require performing a small test area prior to performing the work.
How much of an increase in friction can I expect? It depends on the SCOF rating before treatment. The main objective is to meet or exceed OSHA and ADA standards in both a wet or dry state. It is not uncommon to see a 50% to 300% increase in surface friction when wet.
Will your specialty products prevent lawsuits? While we can't guarantee that you will never be involved in legal litigation, we surely can say that you have done more than most in trying to prevent safety related accidents. By installing our products you will make it very difficult for any prosecutor to prove negligence on your part. In addition, you are able to contract our documentation services in which we provide you with detailed documentation of the SCOF test records. This documentation will serve as additional proof of your enhanced safety program.
Can I reduce my insurance costs? Please consult with your insurance carrier. Many carriers do provide discounts for adopting additional safety measures. Workman's Compensation Insurance premiums have been affected favorably the most. With a significant reduction in injury claims, for some businesses itbecomes a substantial insurance cost savings.
How does Grip On Anti-Slip Solution work? Grip On Anti-Slip Solution is a process that increases the coefficient of friction on a tile floor or a porcelain bathtub. It is not a coating that can wear off, but a process that creates a tread design on the mineral surface itself.
Does the treated surface look or feel any different? There is no discernible change in appearance. However, when wet, the feeling is SAFE!
Why is there a need for Grip On Anti-Slip Solution? Slip/Fall accidents are the nation's #2 accidental killer. Over 9 million disabling injuries every year. Business insurance rates are skyrocketing. Increases of 25% annually are common.
How long is the guarantee? Bathtubs and showers guaranteed for 3 Years and traffic areas guaranteed for 2 years.
Is Grip On Anti-Slip Solution difficult to apply? No, a floor can be treated at the rate of 600 square feet per hour, per worker. Bathtubs require less than 10 minutes with no strenuous work.
Does Grip On Anti-Slip Solution kill germs? When you apply Grip On Anti-Slip Solution to floors, bathtubs and other surfaces, the chemical is known to inhibit the growth of, and kill some bacteria and fungi. Test data is still being accumulated on this and will be available at a later date.
If my floor is sealed, can I still use Grip On Anti-Slip Solution? Yes, Grip On Anti-Slip Solution will work through most floor seals and effectively apply the "invisible tread" (It may take two applications,).
What if there is grease on my floor? Grip On Anti-Slip Solution will, in fact, loosen and make it easier to clean any grease on your floor. Once again, it may take more than one application, but it will loosen all hardened grease on your floor.
Can I wax over the Grip On Anti-Slip Solution? NO. By waxing over the Grip On Anti-Slip Solution application, you will probably fill in the "invisible tread" that Grip On Anti-Slip Solution has placed on your floor. We recommend a dry buff to bring up the shine.
Is Grip On Anti-Slip Solution dangerous? It is about as dangerous as household bleach.
